Geology of the Zion Canyon Area
Located at the edge of the Colorado Plateau province, Zion National Park in southwestern Utah is a spectacular showcase of Mesozoic geology. Highlighted by the massive light-colored cliffs of Navajo Sandstone, Zion Canyon includes a record of Triassic and Jurassic stream and desert sand dune deposition.
