Numbers In Geology

Whether we're talking about geologic time or the size of a dinosaur footprint, we need to be familiar with numbers and different units of measurement. Much of the world uses the metric system (see Table 1-1). In the United States, we also use various non-metric units (feet, miles, pounds, etc.). Let's get familiar with some of the types of numbers we'll use in this class.
