Prelude

The time has come to wrap-up the semester. This final lab activity is a review of much of the imagery you've seen, from minerals to rocks to landscape. Just think of this semester as the beginning of a journey into a bigger, wider world of geocience.

Melissa surveys the geology to the north and west from Skeleton Point, located about 3 miles down the South Kaibab Trail atop massive cliffs of Redwall Limestone (left). While field mapping in the Agua Fria National Monument, Bonnie and Patrick make their way along the bottom of the Agua Fria River gorge (center). Todd helps students navigate the entrance to the Lava River cave near Flagstaff (right).

What Will You Do Today?

Dr. Bob atop Piestewa Peak

Review some of the minerals, rocks, diagrams, and landscapes we encountered this semester

A. Building Blocks - Get familiar with the handful of elements and important rock-forming and economic minerals that form most types of rocks

B. Rockin' - Refer to the identification charts to help identify igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks

C. Geologic Sequencing - Apply what you've learned to interpret and label a few sequence diagrams

D. Grand Canyon Landscapes - Use your geologic knowledge to label landscape pictures from the Grand Canyon
